For the Love of George Gross II

This George Gross cover painting drips pulp. From the felonious femme fatale to the bursting bustline to the delightful use of the word "squawk" added by the publisher... EVERYTHING about this is just pulpy perfect. And then there's the purchaser. The dude made it all the better with his penciled in check mark and the word SEX in all caps. Awwww....just beautiful!

  2. Hey, just wanted to say thanks for acknowledging George's work.

Besides being a fan of his stuff, I have a personal connection that makes it more meaningful that people like you help to keep the memory of his talent alive.

    He was my grandfather.

  3. Hello Josh,
I'm very happy to acknowledge his work. He's hands down my favorite pulp artist. In fact, he's the standard by which we judge other artists. If a piece is unsigned, we'll examine it and try to determine if the art is "tight" enough to be his. It's our way of distinguishing his art from art that is slightly looser, less technically skilled. I hope you are lucky enough to have inherited one of his originals. That would be sweet!
